About Telemark Canal Regional Park

Telemark Canal Regional Park on the Norwegian map

Telemark canal regional park offers an unique journey on an amazingly built  inland waterway through very beautiful and diverse Norwegian landscape. The canal opened Telemark to the world, and has shaped the communities alongside the waterway.

We are very proud of our original locks and buildings and the history they have been part of. We are working together with municipalities, businesses and volunteers to preserve and protect our heritage – but also develop our communities based on sustainable, long term cooperation where both guest and locals can discover, enjoy and respect our natural and cultural treasures.

Our park is in the south-east of Norway and easily accessible. You can get to various places along the Telemark Canal by bus and train from Oslo, Bergen or Kristiansand, we are connected to the ferry ports in Sandefjord, Larvik and Langesund and airports in Sandefjord, Oslo and  Notodden
